The Accipiter stiatus is the smallest hawk to reside in the USA and Canada. They are compact, highly maneuverable birds designed to fly through the coniferous forests of the New Hampshire highlands. Females are from 11.5 to 14.5 inches long with a wingspan of 23 to 27 inches.
